Dear Grundy Center Secondary School Students and Parents: It is hard to believe that with the start of the 2013-14 school year the Grundy Center High School begins the 4th year of the 1 : 1 laptop initiative. Students in grades 9 – 12 will be using the MacBook pro laptops from Apple Computer this year and students in grades 6 – 8 will be using HP Chromebooks.

Laptops will be handed out at registration on August 7th. Sixth grader will get their laptops during the 6th grade orientation meeting. All laptops not picked up at registration will be picked up at Open House on August 18th.

Learning has truly changed at Grundy Center Schools with the 1 : 1 initiative that is present in the district. Students have more access and are connected in so many ways.

Part of this program deals with teaching responsibility and ethics to students as they access to the internet 24/7. With smart phones in the hands of so many we must continue to teach and demonstrate responsible behaviors.

We are extremely proud of how well the vast majority of students take great care of their computers and appreciate the tools that are available to them. Please talk to your students about caring for the equipment in the future along with the responsibility that comes with 24/7 access.
